This year the NHRA updated their web site. I thought the old site was much better, I sent off an e-mail them complaining about it and didn't expect to get a response:

While the "new" NHRA site certainly is pretty, it's so much harder to navigate and much slower than it used to be.

NHRA.com doesn't need the flashy "web 2.0" look, it needs to be functional, fast and easy to use. This site is none of that.

I was surprised to get a response a few days later from Phil Burgess, the editorial director at NHRA publications:

We are currently working on website optimization that should improve the speed.

We've already made numerous changes to the site in the week since it launched, some visible, some behind the scenes, but rest assured that we'll keep tuning it.

We also realize that the site is much different from the old one and there will be a getting-used-to-it phase for everyone (including those of us who work on it!), but bear with us while we sort it out.

We're taking every piece of feedback we get and looking it over, so rest assured your voice has been heard.

The site has gotten better since then, so they're listening... and that's a good thing. ;-)

Phil Burgess is a pretty good guy. When I was helping out Brent Fanning, there were two guys he said he could count on at the ND office. Phil was one and the other was Leslie Lovett the photographer. (RIP) Brent said they stayed in touch with and got exposure for the "little guy" teams.
