All set up at the Colisium, some pretty nice cars pulled in to day,... a little cool on the bike this morning but I didnt have far to ride from E. Meadow. Flyers are at the show , lets see what happens. I talked to some of the people this morning and got good responce . Probably will get some recruts this weekend, I 'm sure ! While there met a guy named Ron giving out free issues of the Special Interest at the bottom of the elevater and talked to him about the track situation on long Island and he said he would also hand out flyers thru out the Island. he goes to quite a few shops on the Island and asked for a bunch of flyers to spread out during his travels.He said he would check out the site and join in ... lets see if that happens !

Just got back from the show ....for dinner.. got some info on the person who runs the go carts on Saturdays, he has a lot of info on who to see about rental on the property and insurance for the same . I have his number to pass on to I guess to Mikelbeck if he is the man of the site here. he's a friend from the Street rod Comunity and has been running carts there for about 3 years. I will PM the phone number if Mike or who ever is in charge , get back to me . Might have a shot if we carry insurance for the event. Will up date as I go along people..... photos to follow !

Just got back from the show...a little wet and cold from the ride in the rain. It was good to see everyone who came down,thanks to Spikey , Betcha and lil Spikey, Novadose, Jayman and Tmac for stopping by to say hello. It was good to match the face to the names. Hope you all hade a good day out in the rain! Now for the good part , my wifes Challenger took home a second place at the show which made her a happy camper! As far as the Chopper goes , we took home First place in the class which was really good and when you think it cant get any better they gave me Best Bike in Show , another trophy and an envelope with some cash !!!!! Tell you what , I did"t even mind the ride home in the rain !! I would like to thank everyone who did show up at the show and stopped by to talk...... thank you all.... Richie... Fantasy Factory lives near Nathans. I on the other hand live a good hour east from there. Deer Park is about half that far. No worries though, my junk cruises nicely.

To go out further is a bit of a trek since I work six days a week. Then that becomes like a job. I have been to Bellmore a few times on Fridays.
Nathan’s I normally skip even thou its 5 minutes from my house and if I do go I don't take my car.
I take the family with me to the Lynbrook shows also with out my car
My favorite is Oak Beach on Sunday mornings I just missed the last few Sundays.

i think island is closer than englishtown and a much nicer place for higher number cars to run......at englishtown i think thier tow cars are in the 12s...and they cater to the lower numbers...at island..everyone is more equal on the playing field....plus its the same way i remember it from the sixties....ahhhhhh feels like home...

It was a nwd (remember them?) metal battery/ballast box that has had no tech problems at at least a dozen other NHRA facilities (Englishtown,Atco,Maple Grove, National Trail,Atlanta Dragway,Gainesville,Houston Raceway PArk and Texas Motorplex to name but a few). IIRC it was because it was metal or some such nonsense. It was a while ago, I will have to ask again to be sure.

when we went the guy was cool as shit..at the starting line, i didnt bring a car to race..steven has his 03 max....and he finally let me race....my first time down the a track :-) the guy knew i didnt have a braclet...and he was cool as all hell...steven told him it was my first time, he gave me some pointers...and i had the best time of the day outta all the cars we went with..and i still carry the timeslip around :-)

You aint kidding... My 100,000+ mile truck gets a little winded going up and down all those hills pull the car & trailer. My buddy has a big diesel truck, he motors right on by me while I'm in the right lane with the foot to the floor and only going 45.

Well that is where the diesel pickups come in handy. When I go I use a ford 350 with a 6.0 liter diesel. When I tow my car on one of my bobcat trailers, with a quad. All BS aside the truck will get 16.5-17 miles to the gallon on the highway. One time as high as 18 mpg. Part of that is that we run the full drivetrains all synthetic oils, along with aftermarket airfilters with reprogramed computers and we pick up over 3 miles on the highway. My brother has an enclosed trailer where he will pull a mile to two miles a gallon less. Go figure wieght and the aerodynamica of the brick would hurt you. These pickups unloaded will get as high as 20-21 on the highway going about 60-65 mph and average 14 around town. This is all accurate since I have my drivers fill out daily mileage logs with fuel noted. I remember years ago with my 89 ford f350 9 mpg towing was the best I could get with the motor turned off going downhill with the wind pushing me. With that truck towing it was more of the 8-9 mile range and what was worse it only had a 20 gallon tank. That was good compared to snow plowing where it was down to 7 miles a gallon.

I would say about 130 miles give or take. I have found a back way up that you make some good time. I take 684 north till it turns into 22 and from there all the way up to columbia pike road and make a left and the track is about 2 miles on the right. Do not take the thruway up because then you have to double back to the track.

They are repaving the track this winter. So it should be real nice for next year. Thank God they are also rebuilding the bathrooms a little tired. I have done many a day trip and all I can say it is a long daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Overnighter is more relaxing.

Yep NY22 is the "old road". A little bumpy, but the way to roll.

Those old trucks were murder on fuel/gas. I had a F250 camper special with two tanks, and a 360 2 bbl and still couldn't hardly get 9 MPG. Then I went GM with a 20 series "tow package" (bought it from a boat yard). That truck when driven @ 50 mph would occasionally get 12/13. At regular speeds and a 16 gallon tank, stops were frequent to say the least.
