I'm against street racing, but this is going too far I think:

Attorney general says he can seize street-racing cars without laying charges

TORONTO (CP) - The government has the power to seize and destroy cars that have been adapted for street racing, and can do so before a race takes place or any charges are laid, Ontario Attorney General Michael Bryant said Wednesday.

I have to agree with you about the fact that how can you destroy a car prior to commiting a crime. But I have no problem with crushing a car if it has been used for street racing. I have seen many a rice rocket racing in the middle of the day on the wantagh or the southern state. This is insane. I hate to say it but maybe with a tough love approach this could possible curtail such a dangerous practice. We all know one way to reduce this would be a strip on the island, but I could go on forever about that.

I cant see that law sticking. In a true democracy you can't punish someone for a crime they did not commit. Its like being jailed for murder because a cop was under the impression that you "thought" about killing someone but didn't reveal ANY of your "thoughts" to anyone. There will be legal challenges to this.

Wasn't the NYPD confiscating stuff in some very publicized "sting" operations back in the late 80's?? I seem to remember it being front page news at the time.

Racing? or speeding? There is a difference...

Just so you know if your car fits the bill and the SCPD wants to they make an example out of you speeding....just like they did with the guy in the mustang not to long ago.... all they did was say he was street racing on the l.i.e.

As per the taking before a crime, aren't you glad you're not in canada guilty till proven innocent
