I got a hold of some one today at holeshotdrags.com and
He said that for 2 hours and 10 cars at $25.00 each he would come out to your location and set up a
100' or 60' with the tree and speed sensors.
For VHT and lane prep it would be extra.
If you guys are down with it, I would go anywhere in LI.
I also signed up for emails on up coming events.

I went to E-Town yesterday and if I could avoid A 3.5 hour drive just to get 3 runs in, I’ll do this short run stuff every weekend.
Especially since my problems with my car are with in 100’. It would work out great for me.

They would set it up anywhere? Like on my street? In a parking lot? Do you need some insurance or anything?

TURBOPOWERED68

He said parking lots. His example was industrial building parking lots.
I guess if you work at a building with a huge parking lot you would ask the boss about using the lot on a day that the business is closed.

I am new to this type of stuff I have never done it or seen it I just saw the flyers at the local speed shop a few months ago. And after going to E-Town yesterday I need an alternative and this doesn’t sound bad at all.
I just called the # on his site and talked to him for about 10 minutes.
The best thing to do is to give him a call.
If you guys can get something together you could count me IN.

Enterprise Park at Calverton. The former Grumman property which still has a pair of runways that would make a real nice drag strip.

Then he could try Gabreski AP since they hold other bs there, and Calabro or known as Brookhaven AP, then you could try the FD strip at brookhaven shooting range

How about one of those fire dept drill tracks. There's one on 112 in Coram just past North ocean heading west on the right. It is not on a public road and housing isn't to close.Choice #2 industrial parks,#3 larger train station parking lots(ronkonkoma, deer park)#4Home Depot in Patchogue. How long and wide does this space need to be.My brother owns a factory in Deer Park near the train station,I've never been there,so I don't know how big his lot is,but could ask him if he would be interested in leasing his space on a Sunday.

My father was member of Coram FD (the track your speaking of) and let me just tell you, that would NEVER happen. not in Coram anyway.

But I would check with the guys that run the bigger track in Ridge by the shooting range, thats where they hold the events. There is def. not a noise control problem over there with the gun range etc.

Tmac

I agree with you on that but I see the bigger picture that if we could show strong support for such an endeavor it could maybe open some eyes as to how a real track could be profitable. It could also start a strong support base to push for a legal safe facility.Put drag racing back it the spot light if we played it right.Right now it's a dead seen on L.I.which means knowbody cares about it as far as the politicians. It could be a good starting point.
But to drop thousands of dollars to go a hundred feet I get your point, but we need to take steps before we can run.
The only problem with the beach lots is the sand.

Thinking like that is what gets us nothing. Baby steps. Gotta go one step at a time. Your attitude is I want 1/4 mile or nothing. thats not how we have to approach this.

The fire dept. track in Ridge will not happen.
I work with 2 liet.'s of the brookhaven FD, they both said "No way it would happen"
We were talking about it 3 weeks ago.

So it would have to be another spot.

Did they give a specific reason?? Insurance or whatnot?

Art,
Those are some of the reasons and the liability that comes with it.
Ins. would be required, and all moneys collected would have to be donated to the BHFD.
And thats if the BHFD approves it.
There would be NO racing, just a show & gathering.
If we say racing on there track, it will never happen, nothing.

I have a contact phone # I can call to find out all the info.
I'll do it Monday and post up the results.

betcha618
09-13-2008, 10:53 AM
even a car show/meet there to support the building of a track would look good, especially if we could get the FD's to show their support for our cause. plus it would be a fundraiser for the FD. So we are supporting our cause and supporting the local FD at the same time. Thats a win for every one.

Supershafts
09-13-2008, 02:39 PM
Why would we need to pay bht and then raise money for the fd?

They make enough off of us now.

NYMontess
09-13-2008, 04:30 PM
the fd would not have much to do with it, they are just going to give the spot to use and want the entry fees. That much info.
I already have from the 2 guys I spoke with.

Marty BHT? Brook Haven Township ?
No money for them, just the FD.
And we will still have to have our own Ins. in the name of the org. holding the event, weather its LIMSA or LIDR.
Its about the only way they will go along with it.

Supershafts
09-14-2008, 12:15 PM
Too much money, i have already been down that road... The ins they want is too much for 1 day let alone 2.

We don't need to waste money...

betcha618
09-15-2008, 09:33 AM
yEA, THATS REDICULOUS. I was thinking more along the lines of the FD hosting it, but if they want to be jerks about it then they get no money. They could have hosted it, made all the money off the admission all the money off food etc. but what ever.
