anyone read todays newsday ...online....i just read it....its wednesday at 830 pm......says that these morons.....were racing down the parkway at over a hundred miles an hour...called it drag racing....i responded that its not drag racing....but it pisses me off that the papers call this........makes drag strips a bad name...i hate this shit.........(andycee)

i contacted newsday about it also....but i guess its what people have been used to calling it...and no one is going to re educate them ..............its guys like that that give us a bad name....also..deer park ave is notorious for drag racing ... ill just keep plugging away....

newsday said it was street racing....which it was...the guys who got arrested said it they were drag racing down deer park ave.....its KIDS like that.......

i stand corrected......but im sure they dont go light to light with bmw s ......when im at bellmore train station i see them tearing up sunrise at high speeds........its all about road racing....but to the average people..its those that hurt people like us....same as motorcycles have a bad name because of a few....its not going to change...i guess im sensitive to this kinda stuff....thanks for the correction spike

Your not going to stop street racing, we are all guilty of it one time or another. I saw two vets going down ocean parkway last week doing about 117. Its scary how much my car drifts on the sandy road over 80!!!

You are right again Art. I see the D-word. Horseplay yes,Drag race No. That road is to narrow and winding for drag racing and dangerous to start off with. I know the kid, he works part time at the gas station down the street from my yard. He was going to start college this year and possibly become a police officer. Now he has made a foolish mistake that cost someone their life and ruined his. Just tragic. I still can't help but wonder if we had the a drag strip where the young and stupid can run it all out in a safe environment, would we cut down on these things from happening? If it saves one life it is worth it.

You are correct on that, you would think after what some 25 years of education and campaigns on DWI this would be a non issue by now. What does it take to call for a cab or to get a ride from somebody? Punishment is severe for this type of offense. If it is not a DWI, but a DUI it will be 7-9 years and if it is a DWI it will be 10-12 years. That is a long time, I know I could not do the time
