Hey there David, welcome to the site.
There's some info about the holeshot racing here on this site, use the "search" feature up on top.

What about using the LIRR parking lots for short runs.
These lots are empty all weekend and nights Plus the LIRR is always broke.
Has this been looked into?

i love how everyone shoots down ideas and says it aint gonna happen, they aint gonna bite etc. Just ask, the worst thats gonna happen is they say no. Guessing that you THINK they are going to say no before we try gets nothing accomplished. I'm sure the HSDRA has their own insurance at events.

Betcha, I work for the railroad. Next question.
All rr parking lots are owned and maintained by the towns there in not the rr.

And cars have the possiblity of crashing into Railraod own items. Track, platforms and buildings. One additional thing, anybody injurde in anyway shape or form will include the rail road in the law suite.
The railroad/MTA would need a dozen English town sized events to fill one half of one percent of the operating costs that are in the constant red.
As much as the property the parking lots holds and in a favorable direction, straight west and east, there not going to go for it. One more possible issue would be 3rd rail issue's of a lovely 750 volts, direct current. 750 dc will do some nasty damage to your ride nevermind the price to fix.
While alot of railraod platforms/stations are "UP' in the air, I think the price of fixing a colum would be cheaper, but service disruption would be worse in the long run.
Then theres the lovely mind set of most of the public.
"Great idea! Not in my backyard you won't!"

So not the ones that put the structure in harms way
I know of at least 5 or 6 stations that have a parking lot a long way from the RR it self and any structures.

I like that people are popping up with but but buts. I can only suggest that if your thinking just alittle with the buts, an excuse and in to the thought of racing at the station parking lots, contact the railraod and towns to set something up and report back about the wall you face.
I'll join in and help fight the fight to get a race set up and done, but I really don't think they'll go for it.
The south side of the Ronkonkoma station owned by Islip has been used for a few years for motorcycle training by a private school. There is plenty of room there without hitting equipment. But if it's such a bitch to get it done is driveway drags worth the effort,I rather focus on a real track.

Betcha, I work for the railroad. Next question.
So you were like a ceo or on ANY part of the top guys that made decisions for the RR?? or were you like a conductor or train mechanic?? Cause I know people that work directly for GM and wouldn't know anything about any decision that was or would be made by the company before the public did too. Which I'm sure is the case in your EMPLOYMENT at the RR. Like i said, unless you were a part of the decision making body for the RR.

chugga chugga chugga....and the beat goes on ...........
Just a "out there" question. The towns that have stations but are no longer served. (Moriches comes to mind) Is the local village where to inquire?

OK, So tell me how your going to spear head this effort and get a drag going at a stations parking lot.
If you can't come up with something or do something, then your just pissing in the wind. I'll stand clear. Don't babble on about it. Do something about it.
Like I said above, there not gonna go for it. You start up the effort, I'll help if I can. I Don't know how I can be of help, but if you come up with something, I'll give it a shot.
WTF is it with the caps? "Which I'm sure is the case in your EMPLOYMENT at the RR. " Oh yea, be sure. And, IF I had there money, I wouldn't be on this board... or state.
Which also brings to mind, you said you know people at GM that don't know jack. What else is new, in any company. Some workers go to work and just do there job, others listen andknow a little something, others get involved in the workings a bit more.
Knowing someone at GM that doesn't now nothing .... I'm not even sure on how to comment on that. It's like, Big deal, so what. I can make the same statement and it would be 100% true. I'm not matching statements here for no purpose. Same would go for Frod, General Electric, The towns water works, the local landscaper.
The railroad has a CEO?! :poke:
Scew this convo, (Don't wanna come off like I want to argue.) Subject at hand, come up with an idea dude! Art has a decent idea above. Look into it. Good idea Art.
