I know it's true that young people have left L.I. because it's too expensive to live here. However, it's also true that young AND older folks are leaving here because there's very little in the way of entertainment and of course some forms of recreation, notably OUR form. Here's what the town of Brookhaven has on tap for all you people out there this year. Mind you, I'm not making this up. This is direct from from Mr. Brian Foley and his GUIDE.
Brookhaven Recreation Guide:
Land Sports--basketball, bowling (youth and adult), golf, street hockey, lacrosse, soccersoftball, tennis and volleyball.
Watersports--kayaking, rolling??? (what the hell is that?), snorkeling (isn't that something you used to do in the back seat of your car with your main squeeze?), scuba, and fishing.
Beaches and Pools--swim instruction.
Marina and Docks--mooring permits.
Recreation Centers--Yoga classes, kids crafts, senior dances, baton twirling, country line dancing, horseshoe, tai chi class, art for kids, quilting, ceramics, low fat cooking, and kids cooking. I would be very remiss if I left out the oakleaf class, butterfly day and bees class, little acorns, backyard basics, barnyard day!!!!, gingerbread house craft, WARM UP TO WOOL??? class (oh my GOD!!!), ice curling and don't forget your fruitcake.

Oh, CHRIST!!! LET ME OUTTA HERE!!!! Ya just CAN'T make this stuff up.

Doesn't this lineup make your mouth water? Doesn't this make you want to move here and pay the HIGHEST taxes in the state?

You must have received the same swell recreational guide from the town in the mail that I did yesterday. The one that says registraion for most of the stuff in there was on May 8th. No mention either of the town boondoggle, oops, excuse me pool that's finally going to open after 8 years of cost overuns and just basic poor/no oversight. Yep, makes me smile when I send that check to Mr. Davis, I tell ya.........

Actually WTH, I live just minutes from the "jewel"(according to the C/E) of all the Suffolk County parks, Smith's Point. And there is yet another bay side beach off of the 'Floyd (Shirley Beach I think it's called) that is pretty nice too if you are into that sort of thing. Me, I just as soon stay in my yard and do some of that "recreational mowing" TMAC was talkin' about.. woot! woot!

Heres something to jaw on, we see on tv all kinds of tourism for Kentucky, Maine, Virginia etc, An for some reason NEW YORK only shows its tourism ads in NEW YORK! Way to bring money in people!!!!!!
OH and for services rendered, we pay the highst taxes in the NATION, not just New York!
