Oops, forgot to fill up

Here's another one...

Back in 2002 I'm racing at LID, made it to the 4th round. Had a great line, and I'm ahead of the guy in the other lane by a nose. All of the sudden I'm slowing down and the engine shuts off. I coast through the finish line, see the light on in the other guy's lane and wonder what just happened.

Yep, you guessed it. Ran out of gas. Ooops.

Ok, last one. 2004, racing at LID again. 2nd time run I'm at the top end of the track when all of the sudden my right foot goes all the way to the floor with no resistance. The motor went from screaming at 6000 RPM to purring at 1200. Idled around the return road and found that the throttle cable broke.

Like I said, if it wasn't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all. :violent1:

Yeah but bad days like that at the track are still better then good days at work.


Being a no budget operation I had many of car issues while racing.

A broken motor mount made me miss 3rd gear on what should have been a win light. I was running down a 4 cylinder escort when the 2 -> 5 shift kinda slowed the progress.

Dumb things I've done include leaving the distributor loose. Couldn’t figure out why it would run consistant.
