I've been looking online for an article that quotes Levy as saying that he supported the building of a legal racing venue on LI. I've found articles where other legislators have said that, but none that attribute that quote to Levy himself. If anybody has seen such an article, please post a link to it or just what publication it was in and around what date, I can probably locate it that way.

If he said it on TV, it should be in print somewhere. I think Levy's web site has transcripts from his press conferences, I'll have a look there.

I actully recieved a letter back from Levy stating that there was no need for a track on L.I. at this time, and that their main concern right now is to build more affordable housing on the Island to try and keep the younger generation from moving to more affordable places....
The idiots that run this Island will never let there be another track on here ever again.....kiss your racing days good bye unless you wanna drive 2+ hrs. away.....
Yuppie scum rule this Island......DIE YUPPIE SCUM......

Thanks. I've seen that article... there's a copy of it here: http://www.stangbangers.com/Street_Racing_News.htm
But it doesn't specifically say that Levy will support the building of a new track in Brookhaven. It says "Levy and Cooper also vowed to find a site where racers can race legally.".
I'm looking for a direct quote.

It wasn't that long ago guys, the September 9th, 2007 edition of Suffolk Life Newpapers.
Levy said he is endorsing the placement of a motorsports venue at the EPCAL property because of the size of the land and "the great deal of buffer" between the property and the surrounding neighborhoods. "We thought it was important to try to find a legal and appropriate recreational outlet for thousands of residents who enjoy motorsports," he said. Levy cited "drag racing, motocross, ATVs [all-terrain vehicles] and NASCAR [National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing]" as potential motorsport uses for the proposed complex.
here's the entire article:
