With Councilman Edward Densieski running for highway superintendent, this year's Riverhead Town council race has four candidates gunning for two open seats. Incumbent Democratic Councilman George Bartunek is looking for a second term, and fellow Democrat Amy Csorny is seeking one of the seats. Running on the GOP ticket are James Wooten and Timothy Buckley.
The biggest issues the four candidates brought up were the town board's recent decision to allow Riverhead Resorts to develop upon the 755-acre recreationally zoned property at Enterprise Park at Calverton, the possible relocation of town hall and the future of downtown Riverhead and its infrastructure.
