I got this reply from Bartunek, I'm going to cool off a bit before I reply
Dear Mr. Zaun,
Regarding the Riverhead Town Board’s decision for the development of the recreationally zoned property at EPCAL, please be assured that there was no “under handed deal” made and that I do indeed sleep OK with the decision that was made. I made my decision based upon my perception that the Riverhead Resorts project would be the more environmentally friendly of the two projects. As you may or may not be aware, my route to the Town Board was as a person very concerned with environmental protection. I would also like to share with you a conversation that I had with two of my neighbors about the project, one lived in Baiting Hollow and the other in Calverton, very close to EPCAL. My neighbor in Baiting Hollow stated that he didn’t really care whether we had a race trackat EPCAL or not because he would be retiring soon and would move away from the area. The other person is a racing fan who was naturally in favor of the track. When I asked him about the noise that would be generated, he said that he would actually rent his house out and move to another area. Actually I can only think of one other person from that part of Riverhead who supported the race track theme. So basically it seems that we would be resolving the location of a race track in Riverhead for a lot of fans who do not even life in Riverhead and who would not be concerned about the noise, traffic congestion, and pollution that would result from the track.
Thank you for your interest,
George M. Bartunek

To the members of the Riverhead Town Board:
Shame on you all. You stated you would do what was best for Riverhead, Suffolk county and Long Island. You lied. This eye sore of a frozen hill will not generate revenue and you did not supporting what the people of Riverhead and Long Island asked for.
The real family sports and recreation proposal would have worked with the local residence and noise mitigation would have been put in place not to cause an issue with the National cemetery (where my mother is buried)
I hope what ever under handed deal you made helps you sleep at night.
Thanks,
Jim Zaun
