WE NEED A MOCK-UP MOUNTAIN!

After looking at the (purposely?) erroneous NEWSDAY graph on Wednesday, September 20th, comparing the Big Duck (20-feet), the Tanger Outlet Sign (55-feet), the Cliff-Diver Tower at Splish-Splash (80-feet), the Montauk Lighthouse (110-feet) to the fake Mountain (350-feet) I wondered if anyone has built scale models of these things to compare them in three dimensions. I really doubt they ever did, or ever will, because if they did, they would all gasp in horror!:eek:

That graph only represents the Mountain at about 250-feet, not the full 350-feet that it could be!

I thought about building a model myself to put on display and bring into town hall. I would start with a 4×8 sheet of plywood (48-inches by 96-inches) to mount the scale replicas onto. To make things easy, I went with a scale of 1 inch = 10 feet.

Ok, the Big Duck, would be about two-inches tall and long and just over one-inch wide. (about the size of a duck egg, funny huh?)

The Tanger sign would be about one and one-half inches square and five and one-half inches tall. (about the size of a banana)

The Splish-Splash Tower would be about two inches square and eight inches tall. (about the size of a zucchini)

And the Montauk Lighthouse would be about two and one-half inches square and eleven inches tall. (about the size of a large squash)

Now, the fake Mountain would need to be 35” tall at one end, at least 30” inches wide and at least 150-inches long, Oops! I’ll need a bigger piece of plywood!:confused:

I know! Get a TWELVE-foot piece of plywood (though still too short at just 144-inches!), lay it flat, now lift one end up onto the back of an average kitchen chair, about 35-inches tall. This entire sheet of plywood now represents the Mountain. Place the egg (Duck) and stand the banana (Sign), zucchini (Tower) and squash (Lighthouse), on-end, next to the plywood and you’ll get a scale-sized idea of the Monstrosity this thing will be!

Now, imagine you, at just one-half inch tall, standing at the bottom, screaming :eek:"What the hell did we do!":eek:

Compare the Mountain with…

Nassau Coliseum – at 460-feet by 340-feet, oval shaped, by 75-feet tall. Figuring on rough-cubic-footage, the proposed Mountain figures to be about seven-times bigger than the Nassau Coliseum.

Is anyone out there able to build a nice scale model? I really believe this reality check would put a stake right through their fake-snow loving hearts!

When i turn people to come here i am getting flack about "drag racing" for some reason it has been associated with street racing and i can not waste time with arguments about that.... i NEED to keep people with us fighting for this family entertainment motorsports park...

In truth this is what it will be, it is not a drag strip only...and i have kinda stopped banging my head with people and the word dragstrip..

If you run around using those words you will see your going to come upon lots of problems, you have to remwember i just do not speak to the racing community i want everyone behind me, we need large numbers....look what i get from them...examples
im getting why are you on the dragracing site now...then i say did you see the post...there answer...why are you on a street racing site..... i thought this wasn't about street racing..my answer it's not...it's a site i am allowed to use, it is not promoting street racing...bingo were off topic, the parade post hasn't been seen...

...This is exactly what needs to be done.....right out in front of town hall or in front of News 12 perhaps?....if not a mock up, then an illustration to hammer the point across.....i dont think people have the first clue as to how big this thing really is...

It'll never happen the radar beacon across the street will be shaded and the faa like mr stark said yesterday will never go for it, and he believes the 75 ceiling is considerably lower at that point do to how close things are to the radar beacon...

As for the town hall idea, im not against that....but 23 people showed up for the press conference yesterday...of 75 that told ME i'll be there...of that 25 remove the 5 reporters and mr stark....

The town hall has to be done during working hours...no one came out to the press conference...i have a lot of doubt about the town hall..

It wasnt till years later that they were coined muscle cars...the cars of the 60s, btw the GTO started in 64 with the 389cu inch motor although I believe the Gran prix and the Catalina and Bonnieville in 63 had the 389 motor and an option 421 cu in motor. You could check on that , I'm to lazy to google it. all I'm saying is that the word "muscle cars" came about in the middle 80s, describing the cars of the 60s, which we now call muscle cars. The word muscle car, I would say is about 20..25 years old describing the Hi po cars of the 60s and early 70s. Back then they were just cars, I wish I had all the cars I went thru back then...today! Guy's the importance of having people all on the same page on one agenda is key....

Some of these ideas of rallys is going off the agenda and with no actual definitive goal for it makes it a hot air contest...

Lets become a community and unite... The key is to get everyone to one association, 1, not 2, not 5 all trying to get something going with no goal...
