Transfer of EPCAL Property

I posted this before but am posting again to link to Facebook.

In 1998 the EPCAL property was transfered to the Town of Riverhead.
One of the reuses that the Navy defined is to use the property as an automobile raceway.

More amazing is the fact that repeated requests for temporary use (cash to the town the very first day) are pushed aside for fear of not being re elected. bleh.

Has anyone ever contacted the Navy or the Dept. of Defense in regards to this agreement and the fact that nothing has everr been done with the property. I wish I knew a lawyer that handles this type of stuff to see if there is any legal action we could bring upon the Town. In the mean time I'm headed to Atco this Saturday...anyone up for a drive?

We are headed to the track Sat. and then a friend of mine is doing a car show on his block in Dix Hills on Sun. 12-3 and then home for Fathers Day BBQ, it will require some running around but two days playing wiht the car and then family...life is good.

You and everybody here knows a lawyer that can make a difference, his name is Chuck Schumer I have sent him several requests and got one response" Thank you for your request I will be looking into it and respond shortly. Two years since that I'm still waiting. I did get a response from his office once in the form of a phone call from one of his staff. I was concerning a porter that worked for me for 25 years he was slow in the head and not able to do his job anymore I was trying to get an advocate for him so he could be put on disability I explained I had been trying to accomplish this for two years in a very heart felt letter as I didn't want to see the poor guy fall between the cracks. This was their response exact words " WHAT DO YOU WANT US TO DO? GO TO CATHOLIC CHARITIES. I have the number in my rolodex at work I'll post it tomorrow.

Maybe we could call the track El' Quartermilo' tell him its run by illegals and they really need the track to realize the true meaning of the American Dream. We can hold a Puerto Rican Parade, marry a few homos and hand out housing, medical care and food stamps. I'm tellin ya he'll show up then, we'll get some media coverage and have a big time.

Congrats Dose but postatute is more acceptable here. It's the race to 3,000 but I hope we get a track so we can just get together and do this live and loud!

I keep forgetting that number it's at work. In the political world once we get the task force going we are at that point seen as a legitimate movement or government sponsored agency it is maybe at this point we should reach out to our elected officials and ask for their input and support all on a letterhead with Suffolk County on it. Right now showing a demand in writting or at events like the 100' drags gives a basis for need. Any corrospondence should be respectful and point out safety, private funds just the need for zoning change or asking for the politicians view for a proper location pointing to the EPCAL site as one we feel suits the need. Public road safety, jobs and the fact that it is private money that will build the track are our selling points. Our negatives are the way we are percived and the noise factor. As a sport the motorsports community raises more money for charity than most professional sports people should know that and setting up some things like the Wounded Warriors Project event do just that. We should be reaching out to charities to do fund raisers, food drives, toys, blood. We're not the enemy we're your neighbors that like to race but always there to lend a hand.
