I was visiting my Dad who's in a nursing home last night. I was wearing my LIMA jacket while I was in with my Dad a nurse walked in and saw the jacket and asked what club was that. I explained that LIMA and LIDragRacing.com were promoting and trying to re establish a safe place for kids to go on the Island to race. She then started talking about how her and her friends use to go out to Westhampton to race, she raced a Cobra Stang. No sooner did she say that then the guy in the bed next to my father (a guy in his seventies) start talking about racing all the tracks back in the day. He told me he's a chrysler guy (Mike Beck is now smiling) and has a 79 Little Red Wagon pickup in his garage at home but he raced a few Fury's in his time. I will be bringing paperwork for them to read and try to sign them on today. It just shows you that you never know who's into the sport. It is your neighbors in every town, and was a big part of life here that should still be. There are more for this, then against this everywhere here.

In a way it adds to the frustration that there are so many of us and so few either know or expend the energy to simply sign up. If we could get the eggs in the carton we would be racing here.

I know a bunch of Veterans ,Remember when alot of the guys were discharged from Vietnam it was late 60's to early 70's.
Right in the middle of the Muscle car history, The big three would bring a truck load of cars to bases- roadrunners, cuda's, camaros,GTOs, vetts,firebirds, chevells, mustangs ,couguars They new these guys had all there money saved up and the Deals were made !!!!!! .
I have heard stories of going to National Speedway getting knocked out first round,packing up and making first round at Westhampton!!!!!!!!
Racing FRI & SAT at ISLIP Sat & SUN at National and West Hampton. What a time to be a Dragracer on Long Island

Don if you could get these guy here we are working on I hope to do a fund raiser show for Vets nursing home in Stonybrook or DAV two great causes and Veterans at the show showing their support or to be honored for their service would be a great plus. Ford actually sent afew cars over to nam in the late sixties so the troops could experience the power of the cars they were buying. Many were comming back buying cars and wrecking them. There was a story in Hot Rod back then about it and how they were trying to promote racing on tracks. It was all about the big three back then and depending on the the age bracket it still is.

I was able to contact the person who is interested in the fundraiser at the Stonybrook Vets Home today. The benefit is a car/motorcycle festival for the Vets at the nursing home.

The show will be held at the Riverhead Car Show parking lot on Sat June 25th. They need our help for cars and help with Riverhead to obtain the permit. It is a win/win for both parties.

I can't make that date but will help where ever I can to make it happen. I told them that you will be the lead person for LID.

They want to meet with us after the New Year.
