Spoke to Jay from HDRA yesterday.
He will be attending the Spring 2011 Belmont show with LID.

We are going to setup the vendor booth with the generator running
the Christmas tree in display mode.

Both LID and HDRA banners will be hung from the display tent.

We will be promoting the 100 foot drag racing events in Riverhead in 2011 as well
as continuing getting the word out about EPCAL.

today I talked to Roy at Queensboro shirts and the scoop is this. 2.99 for a tiny logo on pocket area for a med and large shirt for one time purchase to new customers. This is not what we want. So in reality it turns out to be 10.97 for Med/large, 12.97 for a x-large shirt with 10x12 ad on back. Then a small LID logo where the pocket should be on the front. These T's do not have pockets. He cannot digital print on pocket T's. The other option is embroidery but that's not reasonably priced for what we want. So the HDRA ad is on the back and a small LI drag logo is on the front.
For xx-large it is 14.95 Yes Dose that is quite large, but i was thinking they may shrink after a wash or two. I can't be caught wearing a tight t-shirt. LOL its just not right. I may scare the drag racers away.

So guys, please re-evaluate how many you want. He sent me a proof via email and i caught a problem with the art processing so I have to resend again tomorrow. The good thing is he said that after our approval , after arrival and we like what we see, we can still make shipment by April 2 for the rest of what we want.

ok, I can not replicate the design posted. I work with spot colors and the design posted is called process (4 color blended).

If you want to do cheap shirts yet retain quality, you cant use that logo. You need to really trim down the design to allow it to be either screen printed or heat transferred. Heat Transfer is better than screen printing. It will last longer & look better.

What that place does is called direct to garment printing. Basically its an inkjet printer that prints directly on the fabric and then dried under heat. It takes bout 6 min per side to print and cure. There are multiple steps in getting it to work right. Any 1 step not done right will cause the print to fade, run or fail. I looked into this a couple years ago and decided not to get involved.

I do heat transfer. 2 steps, press shirt for 2 seconds, apply transfer with same press for 6 seconds, shirt done. I have 10 year old shirts that the logos look good as day 1. Downfall is, cost. Better product costs more to make. I have to buy the transfers in bulk. But once I do, I can put them on just about anything (garment). Turnaround time, when I have the stuff in hand, 6 sec per shirt. I can run 500+ shirts a day. It takes me 2 days to get the shirts in from the distributes and about a week to get the prints in. Biggest problem is, each color costs more. The logo posted, being process, has around 1.5 million colors. Because every shade of every color is a new color. In spot color, I can get that down to about 5 colors, again, you pay per color.

If someone wants to swing by my shop, I can explain this in full. I can show samples and you will see exactly what I mean.

If you want me to rework the artwork, let me know. Someone needs to send me the file so I can work it.

I gotcha. Queensboro doesn't do white. guess they are the exception. Well I can send you the file from illustrator. Can you work with that? If you want I can remove the overall screen shadows before I send it to you so its not such a pain for ya.

Reason I get the vendor spot is because I run a small generator that runs the Xmas tree.
In the vendor spots they allow the generator.

The drag race Xmas tree running is display mode attracts a crowd around us all day.

Getting there early before the big crowd allows us to pick the prime spot.
I'll have to call again.

The diner sounds like the place to meet and have breakfeast.

I spoke to them again today and told them about the 100 Foot Drags at Riverhead.
They did not know about the events at Riverhead.
They sounded excited about it.

I told them that we will be setting up the LID tent to promote the events as well as a new
drag racing facility again on Long Island.

With that said I told them we have show cars also as part of the display and will not be
part of the show car judging.

If we get there early when the gates open at 7am the will allow us to setup in the middle
of the parking lot next to the food vendors to maximize our exposure.

We do not have to pay a vendor rate since we are not be judged.

Ok Dose, I took it for a dry run today after the 1st oil change. She stayed at 170-180 temp and all seems good.
I set off a few car alarms and AAAAAoooogaahhhhed a couple of waving kids. All in all I think it went pretty well.
Only thing im afraid of is leaving at 6am could make a few people around me angry. Thats another reason for the trailer. But we shall see.

belmont update.....windy and cold.....till noon..then warming......bought some self drilling screws....all sorts of sizes....im happy....also got a air cleaner element..for a few dollars...picked up a ford intake manifold (torquer) with carb (hp holley 750double pumper and linkage and also fuel line with regulator...three hundred....like new.....really mint....gotta love that...sooooooooooooooooooo....all in all it was pretty good...got three dollors off next weeks belmont...they passed out these coupons at the gate...so im sue theyll all lbe there again next week..alng with me....................

If I drive the hotrod I think I need to keep the revs down a bit so I would probably take hempstead trpke. But if it has rain in the forecast I'll do whatever you guys want cause I'll be truckin it.

I think we dozed off a little. Ive been busy taken care of mom so I couldn't be here.
I was trying to modify the trailer but I couldn't get to it in time before sunday. I don't want to drive the car all the way to Elmont with 557 to 1 gears. Its just asking for trouble. If it was closer i think I would do it. So the trailer was my only hope for sunday and I guess thats out too. So Im gonna keep on truckin as they say. Its a shame cause sunday should be a great weather day. We shall see.

557 gears????? jesus...and i thought i was bad with 456 gears and a spool....lol.....love it mm....love it to pieces........seven ish?? god....how about i see you guys around 8 or so.....you guys set up and if all works well...my son and i ....will be there with the nova and the ghetto cruiser........ill aim the car for the lidragracing.com banner.....hope you guys fly our stickers on your cars.....i got em on each car..

What if I put on the smaller tires on the back. Then I can get the car on the trailer no problem. It might not look as good but maybe I can get away with it. I will try it tomorrow and see what it looks like. I actually want to sell all 4 of the centerlines and sportsmans and buy a pie crust set for the back with matching torque thrusts on the back. I got gasser in my blood........LOL

We had a good time today getting the word out about the 100 Foot Drags.

We got lots of traffic from the Nassau/Queens area.

Jay from 100 Foot Drags was coming today but had car trouble.
I will call him this week.
