I have my 96 SS Impala entered, should be a fun day if the weather cooperates.
Mike what are the plans for Sunday? Are you bringing your tree? I was told by people at OBI this is a big event. Lets hope it's good for us. Let me know what going on.

I still have my "No Motorsports, No Levy" sticker on my Impala. Will talk to anyone about the lack of a track.
My truck has one of those and my sons car has the drag racing one. I still see a few of them around when I'm out and about. I'm low on flyers and on vacation this week so printing them up for free is out. Does anybody have any flyers? Does anyone have a little time to work the event? I've found when I go around handing out flyers I get talking to people about the way it use to be and before I know it, 5 hours went by and I got half way through the place. I enjoy listening to people's stories and experiences and don't want to change that because to me it shows the peoples passion for the way of life, but I miss getting the word out to half the show. On top of that I can't do all the shows. So if their is anybody out there willing to hand out flyers and spread the word especially in Nassau, Queens, Brooklyn let us know and we'll see if we can work something out. More people don't know than do but every car guy/gal out there is in support of this and we are in a position politically to get what we want, but we have to inform people that don't even know there is anything going on.

Details on time will follow. I need to find the time they will start letting cars onto Main Street.
Here is what I have so far that I am bringing to the show.
I got the full size Christmas Tree with the box to run it. I purchased an inverter to run the tree and control box.
Need a 12 volt car battery to run the inverter.
Does anybody have one laying around to use?
The tree has a practice mode so people can race each other and the person with the better reaction time is the winner.
10 x 10 pop up tent.
I had Pitchblack SS (Scott) make me a LID banner. The banner came out great. Can't Thank Scott enough.
The banner is our LID decal. I am going to hang the banner from the tent to draw attention from the crowd.
Printed sheets so people can sign the petition.
Need a small table to put flyers on. Does anybody have one?
Jayman (Jay) has a dvd of drag racing on LI that we can play using his dvd player.
Not sure if the inverter is large enough to run the tree and the dvd player at the same time.

This show is by entry only, I assume you have the ok to set up a 10x10. Space is limited so taking up a space for your car and a 10x10 might be impossible. There are vendors all over the side streets and the show cars are just on main street and tightly packed.

have a battery here you can borrow, about 2 years old, took it out of the wagon when I got an Optima. Sitting about 4 months, prob need a charge.
No one has a 600-100 watt generator? They are quiet as a mouse and economical. That car battery wont last all day, shoot is don't think a couple in parallel will run that stuff all day. I could be wrong......
Art I think there was an issue with running a generator at the fair, but I think you could be right on the battery issue which might require timing of their use or switch them on and off. I have a battery it was new but has been sitting a few years don't think it will do the job. What do you consider a small table snack tables I have or a 8' x 30" table. I have also been informed by my wife we are having her family over on that day for a barbecue which makes my being there limited to early hours. Trying to reschedule barbecue.

Yes, I have permission from Still Cruisin Car Club for the tent.
In the past five shows I have never parked on the street. I park on in the first parking lot on the right just after the church.
The parking lot allows you to leave early since there is a car club member guarding a wooden barricade that allows you to leave out the back way.
I have permission to setup the tent near the tree next to the church.
The battery from Pitchblack would be great. Not sure how long the tree would operate but the tree itself stands six feet tall and will attract people anyway.
Can some pickup the battery and charge it?
Only bad thing is that you have to be at the parking lot at 6am. I will go there and setup.
I have extra flyers.
Who will be coming later? It does not matter if you arrive later if you park in the lot and can leave early.

Great, I park in the same lot for the same reason-early exit. When we had the junior dragster on display on the corner further up we were kinda of stuck all day, especially when they put the those Andean pan pipe players behind us-I can still here the music!
Scott I can pick up the battery and bring it with mine in my truck. Mike I have the snack tables or the folding table 8' x 30". I'm not familiar with Sayville if you could post the address of the church. I've got some folding chairs if needed. I will be there barbecue day changed. Do we have any LIMA references. I have a sticker we could put on something if not.

Terry,
If you can bring the table that would be great.
The church is just after Lincoln Ave on the righthand side.
They only let you in at Lincoln Ave.
Take Sunrise Highway to Lakeland Ave south.
Proceed on Lakeland and make the first left after crossing over the railroad tracks.
Make first right onto Lincoln and proceed to Main Street car entrance.
Only LIMA references are in the flyers.
Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and some new ones.

thats fine Terry, If Im not around I already told everyone that someone may come for the battery. Its gonna need a charge. It should be a good battery, worked fine in the car, just needed something a bit better and had a gift certificate that covered most of the Optima.

Terry, Powell8 and myself worked the crowd at Sayville today.
Nice meeting Powell8 today.
Great feedback and response from the crowd.
The camera phone did not work so good on the LID Logo but it looked great.
Had the tree working but had some power issues. It attracted a crowd as expected.
Will be looking into more power for Lindenhurst FD show. Powell8 will post on a show coming up at Tangers in Deer Park.
Terry is on the left and me on the right.

Hi guys, had a great time yesterday. Nice to meet forum people. I hope the person I spoke to about getting a track going was legit, I will let you know if he contacts me. Your flyer in my car is what caused him to speak to me so it was worth it at least for that. My car club has it's MS fundraiser show August 29 @ the Tanger Mall in Deer Park. I can set up a table there with flyers and such. Now, how can we set up solar panels to run the Xmas tree!!!

I can supply the tent and LID banner.
Working on a new power supply for the tree. First time out and had some issues but it attracted a lot of people.
What time do I have to be there to setup?
Do you have any photographs of NY National and West Hampton to display?

Pitchblack SS is it possible to make an overlay of the PortaTree lettering to read LIDragracing.com?
PM me when you get a chance and I will give you the dimensions.
Mike
I was thinking of making a base for the tree a fold up piece where people can place there car club logos on it showing car clubs supporting our effort and giving them some thanks that way. Size can be determined can't be too big. I was thinking 2' x 4' A frame type.

Will do. Any other clubs here. I have a LIMA one already. It's free advertising for your club. When we go to a show you can come and put one on there yourself. This tree did attract attention at the Sayville show our first time out with it. But we will ask you sign our petition to do so and become a member. It will be explained before you sign on but it's totally legit and free.

Just checked with my club president, you can come to the show and the vendor fee (35$) will be waived. I will be there helping all day so I will see you and one of my SS's will be in the show.

Charley is your club interested in becoming a supporting member of our organizations, just physically not moneteraly where we could post or install your club as such on our sites. Your club is always welcome to post events here. If the fee goes to the MS foundation the fee wiil be donated to it because its needed but thanks for the offer. What is the set up time. This one's on me Mike so you can recover from my pizza bill from Sayville!

the club is Long Island Street Machines, great bunch of guys, Joe was at my shop today picking up the dash plaques for the show. I did all their trophies a couple weeks ago.
This might be a strange question but how many people here are in other clubs that have nothing to do with us?

biggest problem is, Scotts two clubs are country wide, few members in NY the other one is with the last minute notifications on things. most of the LIGBody members are from Queens, nassau county, so getting out to Riverhead on last minutes notice is kinda tough. They all support the efforts. Go on LIGBody.com and start a thread./
The idea is to get club support not that they need to come to events, just backing as members. When we go to the politicians and builders we can show our numbers. If we're the only ones pushing for a track we need the backing of all. They just have to show it we do the leg work. To be honest most places I go promoting this I'm on my own but if people/ clubs check us out and see others it might get them on board. If they have a logo decal we can install it on our board.

I belong to a couple clubs, NAIOA (4000 members, I own this), belong to LXForums (35000 members national & has LI Regional Club "LILX"), NYMCC (Tommy's "NYMonteSS" Club), LIGBody (Mine & Steves)
I will get you NAIOA, LILX, LIGBody decals. Will check with Tommy about the NYMCC decal, dont see why not.
I also recently joined LIMopars, dont know if they have a decal or not. I'll ask.
A lot of people don't know of our efforts and all these clubs here and nationally if they posted about us on their sites linked to us would effectively spread the word quickly prior to election day. Everybody and everywhere I go people want this to happen and if we could show a strong support via the vote have all the clubs supporting candidates that support our goal it will happen. All the cards are in place property value down, lack of jobs, government broke and looking for revenue. We have never had a situation like this since the Hamptons closed. It's ripe for the picking.

Nice work!! I saw the show winner's trophy Saturday @ Tanger where Joe was set up to promo the event. Love the flames. I am going Thurs. to Oakdale with flyers to hand out. The crowd @ Tanger should be worth handing out flyers from LIDragRacing also.
I'm hoping we can set up a booth again. but I'll walk the crowd with flyers. Could use some help doing a show the day before. Like I've said I think we have a unique opportunity at this point in time with things the way they are and elections around the corner. Remember Schumer contacted LIMA to meet with us. Do you see the light! Do you want this to happen? We have the opportunity to deal the cards now.
