Well we're deep into another racing season and another year futher from the last legal race season here. We've got to ask ourselves can we get something done here are there enough people to support a track? A few of us here and at LIMA have been doing it all since the begining, there in lies the problem. Few is a word that doesn't get it done and many say they want it but don't step up. The many can't even take a minute to sign a petition, become a member to show there are many that are still interested, and give support to the few that go to events do the legwork and try to get it done. The numbers do make a difference. Those that want to see if we're gaining momentum see we're not and aren't worried about us. We have no power because we have no base support. When you go to a townhall and speak as an organization and then those that you mean to impress check your organization out and see small numbers they see they don't need to listen to you. If you went to that same meeting with a petition, with 10,000 signatures on it and a couple hundred in attendance they can't help but listen. Our fight isn't popular among those that think they rule us and with little support they do.
What we need is people to step up, take a little time to do things like hand out flyers go to town halls, organize clubs to come on board, whatever it takes to get the support we need to bring this thing to a head and get it settled one way or another. Close the book or start writting a new one.
What I'm asking is, is there anyone out there that wants to get involved do some legwork or anything you can to gain momentum, stir thing up bring people out to get an answer. If so post and we'll figure out what direction we should take. If we don't do something nothing is going to happen. Only we can help us or we could just become a racers chat line. Talk about how it was and going to Jersey. I could live with that at least I'd know the fight is over and I could spend time doing other stuff knowing I really tried to make a difference.

No I didn't make it had to do family stuff that day. For some strange reason I figured you to be the first to post here. This up hill battle seems to be getting steeper and with my bad knees I don't think I'll be climbing too much further.

Well being a man of my word I went out to the Yapank F.D. show tonight handing out the new flyer. I dropped a few hundred met some members there, car club members that said they would spread the word, a guy that works for Shafiroff is bringing some to the shop a couple of other shop owners that will display them at their shops, a couple of guys that knew people that would be interested in possibily investing if the market was right. This show is well run I'd say about 50-75 cars of all types. All car people but not all race car people but they all agreed that the concept of a safe legal facility was long over due and made sense. I made the rounds in about an hour and checked all the rides out at the same time talk car talk, it felt good like when I was doing it in the past. I expressed the importance of the numbers on the petition and membership here and at LIMA. IT's our best tool for progress they all agreed.
The point I'm tring to make here is it's not a burden it's a good time. You meet some interesting people, hear lots of interesting stories from people wanting to share them with you especially those that have been around a while. Take the time to listen, especailly you young people, there's a wealth of history out there and I'm hoping some will become members here and share their stories. To me besides the safety element it's what this is all about. It's a life style that has been pushed off to the side by politicains and greed. It's time is long over due that we push back and push back hard this time. Demand the real reasons and answers, we're entitled to know why or to go racing. We are on the right side of this issue. If you took the time to do just one show you would see what I mean, people don't bite they light up when they hear what your doing.
Here's how you do it you walk up to a person or group of people and say Hi I'm from the Long island Motorsports Assoc., Long Island Drag Racing and we're looking for the publics support to re establish a safe, legal facility here on L.I. than kick back and listen to the stories. The concept sells itself, the flyer is just instructions on how to help. It's that easy and if your a car guy it's that good. Me I'm back on the trail I enjoy it. The rest of you it's up to you. I don't want to tell anybody what to do, just sharing my experience. The choice is yours.

Next new idea need volunteers to mail a copy of the new flyer to their local public officials Island wide with a letter asking them as your rep for support and to sign the petition. Must be done reg. mail and post who you sent it to here. We'll give them a couple of weeks to respond no response will mean they don't hear us. I will then take the new flyer and on the back list all the public officials not hearing us with a statement saying if your official isn't listed here they are supporters of motor sports here. We should contact people seeking office also. November 2nd is around the corner. Let's be on top of the issue this time and not asking at the last minute WHO! We have a unique opportunity right now to unseat some of our enemies. We could also try water boarding but I think this is faster and more effective. The important word is try. I will cover Bishop, Gillibrand, Schumer, Levy, Cuomo and Mazzie and check for correct spelling before I do. Marty if you don't LIMA to be part of this please post and I will remove LIMA off the flyer and letter, don't want to overstep my bounds, I want to be on the same page, but I will be going foward with this even if I do it alone. This is my last horrah after this if we get no results I'll be living in the past come November 3rd or sooner if people here aren't interested in stepping up. We have plenty of time before election day. THEN HE WOKE UP!!!!!!

There will be a rally called by LIMA to protest the EPCAL site and what is going on. Those here that aren't a part of LIMA should become members and follow the posts for the protest rally. The line has been drawn in the sand and a strong showing of support wiil be needed.

Go to LIMA and check new homework. This could be it, if you don't come out now and spend ten minutes of your time you don't deserve it. Remember a few minutes that's all it takes. Several others and myself have spent thousands of hours to try and get you all a track so if thousands of you spend a couple of minutes we're even.

I'm willing to help too. But I cannot access LIMA so I have no way to get info and get myself and others where we are needed. So if anyone wants to email me n tell where to be when I'm here to help.

With the good results we had at the Riverhead show two weeks ago it seemed that we started the fire again and people are talking about tracks and everything that goes with it. I met the local rep from Torco Racing Fuels at this past weeks show and like Sonoco he's on board with us. These are American businessmen looking to stay in the game here. There are many shops and parts houses that will benefit from a race facility and many people now on the side lines looking for work, any work that could be helped. I met a guy at the show that was a truck driver for a now defunked east end lumber yard (THANKS TO THE LOWES AND HOME DEPOTS) looking for work, so if there is anybody looking let me know, I told the guy I'd look around.
What I'm not getting is I guess you would say a lack of enthusisam amoung us. Nobody looking to do anything. How many here attend one show a week regularly? All the same people and cars are there so you've seen it all and probably have become familiar with the faces so what would it take to hand out flyers one night out of the summer. I know not everybody has the time to and wants to relax have some down time, but if we don't do it we wount get it. Most people out there DON"T know what's going on and that there is even a effort going on. That's why we need to make the effort, if we can get just 30% of the motor sports community to back us we will get results. If we linger around 5% we will get nowhere.

Glad people are starting to talk again, I usually have flyers with me at every show I go to. Granted I havent made a cruise night in about 5 weeks, but did drop a flyer in nearly every car at the last Mopar meet I went to. I only had about 50 flyers and there were over 70 cars. I also passed out some decals, didnt have alot on me, but gave out what I did have. Im gonna try to run off some more copies this week at my other job.

I was planning on hitting Bald Hill tomorrow night, but looks to be insanely hot and humid.

Not sure which flyer you are referring to, I grabbed 1 of each from Steve's shop and copied them. One was a public notice. If you can drop off a few or even drop one in the mail, I can make copies at my other job.

I think Steve got the one's I had so your good to go. The public notice was one and the other two were support flyers for the windshields of cars.
