I'm a professional photographer. I might have the opportunity to shoot a vintage funny car for a drag magazine. The car is located on LI. I'm looking for a cool location for the shoot: abandoned raceway/roadway, airstrip or factory/industrial building... something retro maybe?
Any thoughts or ideas are welcome.

At Grumman Park in Calverton with the fighter jets in the background?
The old Grumman airstrip is next door where we want to use for drag racing.

Or the NY National drag strip. The staging lanes are still there.
How cool would it be if this Funny car once raced there.

What details do you have about the old Funny Car?

Can you give me more details on these 2 locations? They sound like what I'm looking for!

I will get some details for you from the owner at some point...

CEDAR BEACH, 5 points is a sick spot, maybe not a for a funny car but still a great spot.

NY National was located south of the Long Island Expressway at Exit #70 on Chapman Blvd. A senior living complex is located there now called Greenwood Village. The main entrance to the complex was aslo the entrance to the track. The builder also used the strip as the main road and built houses on either side of it. The track staging lanes are just south of the housing complex behind a gated/fenced area. Traveling south on Chapman Blvd the complex will be on your right with the staging lane area just after the complex.

The Grumman Calverton Park is located on Route 25 in Calverton. The old existing runway at the Grumman Plant is the location which LIDragracing is petitioning to use to drag race on.

Please keep us informed on what you decide since myself and other members would love to help out with your project.

Maybe you can do it at Kevin's house. While your there fire it up and blowout his windows. Shovels wount mean much after that.

Any poop on why the staging lanes have never been developed?
Ed and George still own that piece?
I like the RTH photo shoot idea!
