Not getting any fuel up to the carb. I just changed the intake, if there was a vacuum leak would that have any effect on a mechanical fuel pump? I'm thinking no, but wanted to make sure before I swapped out the fuel pump.

"If there was a vacuum leak would that have any effect on a mechanical fuel pump"

No a vacuum leak will not effect a mechanical pump.

Has the car been sitting for a while?

The fuel pump might need to be primed. Disconnect the ignition wire and crank the engine to see if the pump gets fuel to the carb.

Also change the fuel filter.

Let us know how it works out.

Yeah, it was sitting for a while.

I pulled off the fuel line from the fuel cell in the trunk to the fuel pump and blew air through it to make sure there was nothing blocking it. There wasn't. I cranked and cranked and cranked the motor but never got any fuel up to the carb. I pulled the line off the fuel pump again and there was nothing there either. The fuel pump is kind of old so it may have just died altogether.

Guess I'm changing the fuel pump...

It's not a factory pump, it's a Carter high volume. Never had any issues with it until now.

I've got a Holley blue pump sitting on the shelf, guess I'll be putting it in. I also need to replace the fuel cell, the one that's in there is a circle track cell with the pickup in the front (pass side). I could turn it around but then the pickup would be on the wrong side... so I gotta replace it.

those holleys pumps are tit to service, open it ,free up the pressure relief, clean the vanes, drop of oil on the end bell, new plate gasket, install, motor side up, 20 minutes.
doesnt the carter have a replaceable diaphram?

No idea. It's been on the motor for 10 years, it's time for it to go...
