hello eveyone, hope everyones XMAS was good - I know I am thrilled it is finally over :) Anyway, I blew up my transmission over the weekend and currently have her in the shop getting her looked at - I know tranny fluid is coming out the front end (BTW - it was muddy as hell) and we all know what that means. my question is, what should I do? i currently have a FMX transmission with Auburn rearend geared 4:88. What would you all recommend i have done to make her better/faster??? I am going to use her strictly as a drag car i think...

A C6 is bulit proof, but heavy and robs some horsepower to turn it

If you go C4, get a good one, I have a Dynamic fully rollerized C4 for my GT, good for a whole hell of a lot more horsepower then I'm making, but will fit comfortable behind the 514BBF I'm collecting parts for....

I know nothing of overdrive transmissions,

I'm in process of getting a truck and trailer to pull her around. I really do not want to drag illegally, but will if there is nothing else... I'd like to get her so she will pull a 10-10.5 in the 1/4 mile. With what she has now, I'm thinking 11.5-12.5 maybe an 11 sec 1/4 mile - THOUGHTS/SUGGESTIONS!!! Thinking 150-250 shot will do the trick?

Which is the better shift kit for FMX tranny: Transgo or B&M?

Transgo instructions are not very clear IMO. They are good kits, just the insrtuctions require a bit of reading.

Did one in a turbo 350.You are correct read it a couple of times with the tranny belly up before getting to deep it all makes sense in the end.Kit worked well solid firm shifts.Had a 3,500 stall in front,4:11 out back 72 vega wagon.

Thanks, since it looks like the tranny needs rebuilding, might as well do it right, so any tips will be most appreciated...

Well to find out the guy who built this car modified the engine and forgot the transmission. It was stock fmx tranny and engine is way too much for it. I am having the tranny modified for the engine needs changing it form automatic to manual tranny and adding a cooler... He also went over the engine with me and to find out I'm sitting on over 500 horses and with the tranny getting modified, I am sure to have a nice quick ride down the track :) Any thoughts/suggestions would be most appreciated...

Well, went to the shop to take some pics of the work in progress. I am also having front end replaced - as you can see in the pics, there is a lot of work needed and I will "Get 'er done!" Pics are on my FB profile http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=143184&id=643403410&ref=mf

I am having the work done at AAMCO Transmissions in Valley Stream (Anyone know of the place?). Their head transmission guy there Phil, has been building race cars for 35 yrs and really knows his transmissions. He come up with a very nice setup for the transmission to meet the engine needs and I'm can't wait to feel the end result... To make a long story short I will be shifting gears in .2 secs compared to the 1.4-1.6 it takes now :)

Thanks for the offer, but I am sticking to the FMX... Gonna cost a few duckets, but what I am having done will be worth it in the end :headbang:
