HURRICANE – When the ground breaks Friday in Hurricane’s Quail Creek Industrial Park for the Red Hills Raceway drag strip, it will be just the first in a line of automotive-related projects expected to fill up the area.
Located adjacent to the Washington County Fairgrounds, the $1.8 million drag strip will cover 10 acres, allow for more than 2,500 spectators and provide an outlet for race enthusiasts throughout Southern Utah.
“Everyone’s getting their cars ready,” said Erik Harper of Wild West Property Management, the company overseeing the project. “It will be a great venue to come out and see some drag racing.”
Harper said the drag strip is expected to open in March and will be the first of many projects in the industrial park designed to appeal to automotive enthusiasts.
