View Full Version : Ideas to increase membership
In a need to spread the word about our cause and what this site is about we maybe need a new approach.I have tried handing out flyers at Bald Hill, probably a thousand or more, but it seems to be in vain.People seem estatic about the idea of a web site promoting motorsports and the building of a track here on Long Island but it seems that enthusiasm disappears when they walk away.I can't think of an easier way to spread information than a site like this.Could people be that lazy or is it that they just don't care? The window of opportunity is closing or have the NIMBY's won.Are holeshot drags the final frontier,132ft. you could do that in most driveways.Where do we go from here?

Geez. Lrets hope that 132 feet is NOT the final frontier. Your experience at Bald Hill mirrors many others that have tried to generate something, but the SHEEPEOPLE out there seem to be sleepwalking.

YOUR EFFORTS ARE MUCH APPRECIATED. PESSIMISM IS RAMPANT ON LONG ISLAND. MOST PEOPLE FEEL THAT "WHAT CAN I DO" SYNDROME.DON'T LET IT RUB OFF ON YOU.WE CAN ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE.KEEP UP THE GOOD FIGHT.
Pessimism , from the Latin pessimus (worst), denotes a belief that the experienced world is the worst possible. It describes a general belief that things are bad , and tend to become worse.
How does pessimism and negativity affect my behavior?
When I am negative or pessimistic I:
****look at the worst side of a situation.
****say what ``I'm not'' rather than what ``I could be.''
****lack the belief that I could change.
lose hope in the future.
*****take the opposing view in any positive conversation.
am unable to make upbeat or uplifting comments about myself or others.
turn all conversations into griping, complaining, or bitching sessions.
have nothing good to say about myself or others.
complain about the inequities of life.
****try nothing new or challenging because I feel that I will fail.
get bitter over how people treat me - now and in the past.
***put down new, creative and inventive ideas as impossible.
limit my horizons which results in limiting my personal growth.
take no risks.
challenge those who are looking for the ``up'' side of a tragedy, failure, or disaster.
ridicule those who believe in the power and mercy of their ``Higher Power.''
ridicule attempts to rectify a dysfunctional situation.
***resist altering my way of thinking, because I feel nothing will help or make a difference.

Come on over to Streetfire.
Its where the raceres are, nice runs the other night.
I realize that alot of you folks have been at this awhile. It's a great cause and people really seem to want a place to go,but getting them off their asses to do something seems to be the question of the ages.Even this site shows that. How many times have you read I can't believe nobody heard about this?As a group of 45, politicians wouldn't hear us and investors wouldn't either, whats with the EPCAL down sizing anyway are we cut out of that picture? If not there where? With enough people taking a stand something could be done, the Hamptons probably could have been saved.I was there the last day, people just seemed defeated not pissed off.I'llstill do what I can but am low on ideas to set fires under people except for actually setting fires under people.Where do the street racers hang out?:rolleyes:

Any more news on EPCAL? I heard they are downsizing the race track with no mention of a drag strip.
Whats the deal?
